What is a Writing Center?

The Writing Center is a place where the dynamic nature of the writing process can be explored, and where effective writing habits can be modeled and developed in a flexible, comfortable environment. Accordingly, Writing Consultants act as an authentic audience and collaborate with writers at any stage of the writing process. Our skilled consultants help writers interpret assignments and readings, organize and effectively support ideas, plan revisions, and refine language, grammar, and style.

To get the most out of your Writing Center experience...

·         come to your session on time and prepared to work collaboratively

·         bring all documents, drafts, and sources related to your assignment

·         come early in the writing process

·         understand that we are consultants and not editors

We love collaborating with students to help them continue to grow as writers; come visit us to experience for yourself how beneficial the Writing Center can be!

Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments get priority. Appointments can be made in person, via email, or over the phone. Or, if you’re in the library and have a quick question, don’t hesitate to come in and ask!
